The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of business improvement techniques, which can be applied across many different sectors and job roles. This qualification should take 180 hours to complete.

1 Safe and effective teamworking - From this unit learners will be able to describe specific regulations, safe working practices and procedures, explain what constitutes a hazard and a risk, identify potential risks and hazards and how these can be reduced.
2 Principles and techniques that support workplace organisation - From this unit learners will be able to describe the benefits of an organised working environment, explain how to perform, score and audit a workplace, and provide recommendations for new or amended standard operating procedures.
3 An understanding of continuous improvement techniques and their application in the workplace - From this unit learners will be able to identify the main Kaizen principles and their application, they will be able to identify waste, problems or conditions where improvements can be made and prepare a standardised work document suggesting how to eliminate variance to process.
4 How to use visual management systems - From this unit, learners will explain the purpose of a visual management system and identify appropriate parts of a process or work area that would benefit from visual controls.
5 Problem-solving techniques - From this unit, learners will learn the benefits of adopting a formalised problem-solving process, how to prevent a reoccurrence of the problem(s) and apply a structured approach to problem-solving.
6 How to carry out flow process analysis - From this unit, learners will be able to carry out a flow process analysis using recognised symboms and produce a process map within a given work area.

The qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured by NCFE. Each learner will create an online portfolio of knowledge by answering assessment questions using our virtual learning platform.
